The Difference Between Botox and Dysport

remove eyes bags

Botox and Dysport are two types of cosmetic injectables that weaken and relax the muscles near the injection site. Both work by blocking a chemical called acetylcholine. Because muscle contraction can cause wrinkles, these neurotoxins relax the muscles, leading to fewer wrinkles.

Dysport is more affordable

Although there are some significant differences between Dysport treatment and Botox, the cost of both treatments is almost the same. A Dysport unit will cost you about 1/3 the amount of a Botox one. Both neuromodulators can be used to treat the same cosmetic issues.

While the two treatments are very similar in cost, the results of Dysport are faster and last longer. In just two to three days, most people can notice noticeable changes. A Dysport treatment may be less expensive than multiple Botox procedures.

It diffuses a lot more

Botox is more effective than Dysport, but they have different effects on the skin. Botox lasts longer at the injection site, Dysport spreads quicker and has a shorter duration. This makes it more suitable for treating larger areas, and requires fewer shots. Botox can be less effective than Dysport.

Both Botox, Dysport and Dysport contain biologic processor proteins. These neuromodulators provide protection for the toxin, and help it work efficiently. These proteins influence how the toxin diffuses and how it is injected.

It reduces glabella lines

Botox is an effective treatment for reducing frown lines (or glabellar) in the forehead. These lines appear above the eyebrows and are caused by the repeated movement of the brow muscles. This injectable treatment can reduce glabellar lines, and prevent new ones from forming. It smoothens existing lines.

Botox can last between three to four months and there is no downtime. The results are noticeable between two and three days after the treatment and continue to last for three to four months. Glabellar lines can be filled with Juvederm. But like Botox, Juvederm does not prevent glabellar lines from forming in the first place. It works by smoothing existing glabellar lines and takes just 10 minutes. Because the effects last up to four weeks, this is the perfect treatment for stubborn glabellar wrinkles.

It is more efficient

Dysport and Botox are both effective for treating wrinkles, but they have some differences. Botox can be used in smaller areas, such as the forehead. Dysport is more concentrated and spreads across a larger area. There are two main differences between these injectables: how much they are used and how long it takes them to work.

Both products can cause bruising/swelling and can also cause side effects. Dysport patients need to be aware of potential side effects. Patients should be aware that there may be some swelling and bruising, but they should not lie down after an injection. They should also avoid exercise for at least four hours after the treatment. The effects of both drugs are very similar, although they have some structural and molecular differences. Therefore, side effects can occur for some patients.

It is safer

Botox as well as Dysport can be effective, but there are risks. While injectables such as Botox and Dysport are both safe, it's important to discuss the potential risks with your physician prior to undergoing any treatment. Botulinum toxicemia, which is when an injection spreads from one part of the body to another, is a known side effect.

Although the main ingredient in both injections is the same, the two products differ in trace protein levels, making one treatment more effective than the other. Both products are being further researched to find the safer and more effective. Botox is quicker to dry, but both injections can be administered in minutes. After the injection is complete you can leave the doctor's clinic.
