Inframammary Incision

cosmetic surgery procedure

Inframammary incisions are a surgical procedure to augment the breasts. The incision is hidden under the breast crease and is only visible when the breast is lifted. It can be concealed easily under most bikini tops. It can be used with both pre-filled and large silicone breast implants.

Incision technique

The inframammary incision technique is one of the most popular breast augmentation procedures. This involves making a small incision on the breast and then inserting the breast implants. This type of breast implant augmentation is extremely safe. It does not require any incisions. This can also be done on large breast implants. This technique is safe to use while breastfeeding.

Inframammary surgery is a time-saving technique that can reduce the overall length of the procedure. This procedure is performed using a stab-shaped, approximately 3 mm incision to insert a small, infiltration cannula. To elevate the pocket and promote hemostasis, 150mL of tumescent solutions are injected through the incision.

Inclusion criteria

The inframammary folding is a landmark in breast surgery. It marks the inferior breast border on the chest wall, and defines ptosis. It also serves as an inferior support for subpectoral implant, which is important to prevent implant migration. A fold is essential for aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

Participants must be 14 years or older and have excessive inframammary shivering. A legal representative must accompany patients under 18 who sign the FITC. Not eligible are women who are pregnant or breastfeed. Patients should be aware that participation in the study will not result in any financial incentives.

There are risks

Inframammary surgeries can be dangerous. A double-bubble deformity can occur when the inframammary fold is lower than the breast tissue. This can cause a variety of problems, including breast cancer.

Inframammary incisions do not work as well as those that are made at the periareolar/circumareolar crease. Inframammary cuts can be dangerous because the sensory nerves located at the lower pole are susceptible to being stretched or cut. Inframammary and periareolar incisions may result in a higher incidence of nipple necrosis. They are also less aesthetic.

Disadvantages

The most widely used type in plastic surgery is the inframammary. It is easy to use and visible. It also allows direct access to submuscular, subpectoral, and subglandular planes. This incision is less painful and comes with fewer risks. The inframammary method is ideal for placing symmetry with minimal scarring.

However, there are some disadvantages to this type of breast enhancement. It is less precise than other techniques and can place the implants unevenly or too high on your chest. In addition, the scar that is left behind will not be as easy to hide as one may think.

Modified approach

The inframammary folding is an incision which extends from the chest wall down to the underlying tissue. The inframammary folding is closed with multiple layers of absorbable stitches that extend to the medial, and lateral edges. The skin disc is then advanced toward the center of the breast, bringing it to the position of the original nipple-areolar complex. The wound is closed with smaller gauge sutures.

The incision will be made along the inframammary (which is far from the flap’s edge). Special devices can be used to harvest flap material in certain cases, such as an endoscopic instrument, a retractors equipped with a lighting system, or a retractors that have a lighting system.
